At Bozorgi Law, years in the courtroom have shaped who we are and how we practice. Our lawyers have tried—and won—complex cases across jurisdictions, bringing the judgment, instincts, and composure that only come from sustained trial work. That depth of experience informs every decision we make, both inside and outside the courtroom. Extensive trial experience is a rare skill for any one lawyer; to have multiple lawyers in one firm with decades of it is exceptional.

Partner Susan Bozorgi spent nearly seven years as an Assistant Public Defender in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, where she tried more than 75 jury trials. She has now been practicing for more than 31 years.

Partner Susan Van Dusen has tried more than 40 complex, lengthy trials in 23 different federal courts across the country. These matters involved novel legal issues and voluminous discovery. For years, she has been sought out by other firms to review and manage extensive document productions in complex cases. She has been practicing for more than 40 years.

Counsel Celeste Higgins served as an Assistant Federal Public Defender for 30 years, trying more than 100 jury trials and representing clients in some of the most serious federal prosecutions. She has been practicing for more than 35 years.

Associate Ryan McCartney previously served as an Assistant Public Defender in both the Thirteenth and Eleventh Judicial Circuits of Florida, where she tried more than 20 jury trials. She has been practicing for more than seven years.

This level of collective trial experience sets our firm apart. Lawyers who have spent years in the courtroom learn to think on their feet and trust their instincts. That kind of judgment can’t be taught—it is earned through repetition, reflection, and real-world decision-making. These instincts are powerful tools in evaluating a case and advocating for our clients.

In addition to extensive trial work, our lawyers have deep experience handling investigations and representing clients in cases involving complex fraud schemes—from securities and accounting frauds to banking, mortgage, pharmaceutical, and health care frauds. As one partner often says, “Of fraud we know.” We have handled fraud matters across industries, representing both clients accused of wrongdoing and those harmed by it.

With decades of collective defense experience, we have developed a sixth sense for identifying key evidence and anticipating how a case will unfold. This experience allows us to spot critical issues quickly and efficiently, providing our clients with clear, strategic, and informed counsel at every stage.
